Happy Friday! I hope that your week has been good and filled with time to sew! I have been working on a row for an online Flickr Bee called Strip Quilters! There are six of us and we each make a row of blocks for each other! The blocks below are for Shanna. She wanted triangles in her row.Shanna picked aquas, yellows, browns, greys and white in her blocks. Each block is made with wonky triangles.
When the triangles are assembled into a row they join together to make wonky looking butterflies!
I named this block Metamorphosis, because of the evolution of the block from triangles to butterflies! I wanted to make this row because the negative space in the blocks actually gives your eye a place to rest between the rows on either side.
The last picture is of all of the completed rows together. Don't they look neat together? Negative space gives a modern flow to the quilt and serves as a connector to the contemporary blocks that surround it.
Hopefully Shanna will like my row! What do you have planned for this weekend? I will be doing some sewing and cleaning. My goal is to finish up some more Bee Blocks. Well, have a happy Friday and Happy Quilting!
