Happy Monday! I finally had a chance to use my sewing machine on Sunday! The Sewing Room is pretty close to unpacked and I am way behind on my Bee Blocks. This is my first block of the New Year. This is a free pieced Improv block for Teri of the Bee White Black Bee on flickr. Teri supplied most of the fabrics and I pulled the center fabric (Moda Etchings) and the Amy Butler fabric into the block. She requested a block with a "Mondrian" type of feel. Free pieced or "Improv" blocks are a lot of fun to create!
With Improv you can create sections of pieced fabric that when quilted give the illusion of one continuous piece of fabric. Improv blocks in Monochromatic colors give the block dimension. I love when a block looks slightly uncomfortable and off kilter at the same time.
Well, I better run for now! Be sure to scroll down and enter the January Bloggy Giveaway! Have a Happy Monday and Happy Quilting!
