Happy Sunday!! For the past several weeks I have been working on a wall hanging for the Make Mine Modern Summer Swap on flickr. My partner requested in her "likes" Summersault Fabric by Erin McMorris. Amazingly, I was at a loss and did not have this really bright and cheerful fabric in my stash (lol)! I purchased some fat quarters as a gift for my secret partner but was on the hunt to buy charm packs and a jelly roll to make the flying geese for her quilt.
When I did an Etsy search I came across Amanda's Etsy Shop, West Wood Acres! West Wood Acres Etsy Shop is one of my favorite Etsy shops where I can find the latest designer fabrics at really fair prices! Through several online purchases I got to know Amanda and asked her if she would like to be a guest blogger! She graciously accepted my invitation and will be sharing a fun tutorial and giveaway from her shop! Thank you Amanda for being a guest blogger!!
Hi! I am Amanda, also known as A Crafty Fox and the owner of West Wood Acres on Etsy. I have a true, absolutely undying love of precut fabric. Since my little girl was born, I only have nap times to sew and anything that saves me time is a good thing in my book. My favorite precuts are charm packs. They are easy to buy, easy to store and easy to use! There are so many possibilities!

So, today I want to show you a one charm pack tutorial I have been working on. I am calling it the 'Taffy Go Round' Pillow.
To make this little pillow, all you need is:
16 white 5" squares
16 5" Prince Charming Charms (or charms of your choice)
1 Fat Quarter
Bowl with an 8"(ish) diameter
First up, sort your Prince Charming charms by color. You will need 8 pairs of charms.
Then, draw a line corner to corner on your white charms. You see where this is going already, don't you! We are making Half Square Triangles :)
With the Prince Charming Charm on the bottom face up and the white charm line side up, sew a scant 1/4"down each side of the line.
Now, assemble your HSTs into pinwheels. you will need 4 pinwheels going each direction (I call the one on the left the 'right' pinwheel and the one on the right the 'left' pinwheel.
Now, with each of your 'right' pinwheels, place the bowl on top and draw a line around the bowl with a pencil or water dissolving pen.
Then, its time to line up each of the seams, pin and sew the circle onto the left pinwheel. Do this with each of your circles. You should now have 4 8" circle-in-square blocks.
Carefully, without nicking your front circle or the seam that attaches the circle to the back, trim out the inside circle of the back. I have big plans for mine and if I had left it, you would have been able to see the patterns through the white fabric.
Next, assemble the four blocks into one completed pillow top! Yay! Once mine was assembled, I created an envelope back out of one fat quarter. I cut my Fat quarter into two pieces.
18"x12"
18"x10"
I pressed a double fold into the left edge of one of the pieces and the right edge of the other piece and sewed them down.
With the pillow top face up, place the backing face down as shown. (RST) It will create about a 4" overlap.
Pin in place and sew 1/2" all the way around the edge of the pillow. Turn right side out and use a sharp tool to push out the corners.
Ta Da! You now have a 16" Taffy Go Round Pillow ready to adorn your favorite lounging spot. Right now, mine is outside in the shade!
Our little shop would like to help two lucky winners make their very own 'Taffy Go Round' pillow so we are offering up two charm packs from our little shop to giveaway!
The rules for this giveaway are easy peasy:
