I'm a fairly new quilter, and haven't done a lot of quilt blocks. The latest one I've learned is the 9-patch, and I think I'm liking it a good bit. It looks like you sewed 9 separate squares together, doesn't it? It sure does fool the non-quilter. And me - until I saw how it ws done.

My favorite block is the simple 9 patch. You can do so much with it. You can cut it up and make it "disappear"; you can "split" it, or put it on point and alternate it with a plain block for a really fabulous quick quilt.

I mentioned this in your most recent post, but I don't really have a favorite block. Most of the quilts I've made so far are scrappy and very modern, so my blocks are all pretty free form and made up as I go along. :)

I actually don't have a favorite - I've been quilting for 10 years and am trying to do as many different blocks as possible, I just bought the Quiltmaker 100 blocks magazine and my mom just gave me a book with 250 in it :) I have made more log cabin quilts than anything else, but mainly because I can do those in my sleep.
