Quilt block for my Sister

My sister Tammy has been battling cancer for quite a while. She is a survivor of Ovarian Cancer and has been in and out of remission for the past twelve years. She has been on chemo for at least eight of the twelve years since her surgery.

My sister is my hero. She is five years older than me and is the strongest woman that I know.  Tammy has a kind loving heart and has always been there for me no matter what. She lost her husband to an agressive lung cancer almost two years ago. My sister gets up and goes to work each day at the Post Office, regardless of how she feels. She truly is the strongest person that I know.

She would probably be upset with me if she knew that I was blogging about her, but I want to do something special for her, because she has always been there for me. I love her very much.

I would like to make a comfort quilt for her, and would like to ask for your help. My sister is coming to visit me for my birthday in October. Even though it is my birthday I would like to give her a quilt that is as comforting as a hug.

I would appreciate it if you could donate your time and make one block for her.  The block can  be a nine patch, or four patch block in any type of fabrics with some white or off white combinations in the block. You can use any color fabrics in the block. Please sign your block (with a permanent pen or marker) and this way I can share the story of how her quilt was created for her. Please make your block between nine inches square and 12 inches square.

I will sew the blocks together, assemble the backing and have it quilted for her. She will be here the weekend of October 23rd. If you have time to create one block and mail it to me before October 11th, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please leave a comment  and your email address if you are able to participate and I will provide you with my address to mail the block to. Thank you for reading this post.

The two blocks that are pictured are on their way from one of my blogging friends Cheryll. They are just beautiful! Thank you Cheryll!

I would love to contribute. My sisters mean the world to me, and I hate to see them struggle or in pain.
